THE POWER OF CHRISTIAN CONFIDENCE

Everyone would agree that the Apostle Paul was a confident man. During his earlier years in his ministry the Apostle's positive attitude came from trusting in his credentials, namely his background, education, and position. However, his encounter with the Lord caused him to realize they were of little worth. So what was the source of his boldness?

Paul's relationship with Jesus formed the new foundation for who he was. (Acts 9:1-6) Regarding his former ways as over, he wholeheartedly embraced his new life in Christ. Paul recognized how worthless his worldly success was which had been everything he relied upon and that reflected his image; his knowledge, acheivement, and authority. After his experience with Jesus he relinquished any notion of living independently of the Lord or of himself. The Apostle was a man of action, who lived his life through total reliance upon God. (Galations 2:20)

Paul's unwavering trust in God's promises and faithfulness played a key role in his confidence. He believed God when He promised to strengthen and equip him, to guide him in every situation, to meet all his needs, and never to leave him. In facing trials, Paul experienced the power of the Holy Spirit flowing in and through him. Because he took the Lord at his word, he could meet adversity with boldness. His confidence was not in himself but in the Lord's presence, provision, and power; therefore, it remained strong.

SEED WORD:
Paul tells us to be steadfast in our beliefs and to be sure in our calling. A lot of Christians have a form of Godliness but weak in the beief of its power. Christians that are strong in faith and have lived the promises of God are sure in their walk. How many Christians do you know that when encountering dark spirits the demons scatter with trembling. We have to read the word, believe what is says about us and then act upon those promises when trouble comes. Developing a wholehearted trust and reliance on Jesus is what brings about confidence. How much do you trust him today? How faithful are you when trouble comes. If you're weak during trying times start calling things that are not as though they are and watch the the Holy Spirit start manifesting. Use your tongue as the powerful weapon it is and speak God's promises back to him, now that's what's called faith with works. This is the principle Paul put into action in prison and the chains were loosed. Remember, what we loose on earth will be loosed in heaven, and God's word never comes back empty!
